Walgreens

The type of retailer I visited this week was a pharmacy, and this particular store is located in a city/town location. I concluded that Walgreens was in this particular setting because it's located near UNCG's campus and there are also nearby neighboorhoods and student apartments. I feel that this retailer chose I great location for it's business because it has many advantages compared to other retailers that are close by. First, Walgreens has somewhat of an advantage over CVS because it's closer for students on campus that may not want to move their car just to pickup a few items that are not avaliable on campus. There is also a lot of pedestrian traffic that passes this store on a daily basis, and being that they are very visible it's easy for customers to find their location. The parking lot can hold around 35 to 45 cars and great lighting is also provided at night. Walgreens disadvantages may include; competition, congested traffic, and closing time. Competition can be a disadvantage because CVS is just down the street and prices on particular products can fluctuate because CVS may try to intice customers. Congestion of traffic is also an issue being that Walgreens is location on the corner of a busy intersection. This particular Walgreen's has a disadvantage because they close at eleven o' clock, while other Walgreens are open 24 hours. Overall, I feel that this retailer has a great location because thay receive a lot of business from the local area.

Many retailers that many know and love have announced that they are closing their doors. The retailer that I researched was Goody's Family clothing. After many years of buisness this retailer has decided to close all of their 287 stores. Being that I used to work there we experienced low sales percentages and high shrinkage rates because many people were stealing from our store. After analyzing this retailer I believe that this company failed because of the economic crisis that we are experiencing now and it has contributed to the problems that the company was already facing. Even though this retailer emerged from bankruptcy during the end of last year consumers have cut back instead of splurging on items that are unneccesary. Over the past couple of years some consumers considered Goody's clothing to be tasteless and not worth the price that was displayed on the rack. Some consumers even complained of bad customer service, or bad- tempered store managers while shopping with this retailer. I feel like these problems along with the economic recession contributed to the downfall of not only this retailer, but many retailers around the country.

Established in 1978, Nine West has become one of the world's fashion leaders. The name of the company came from its founding address at 9 West and 57th street in New York. Nine West is linked to Jones Apparel Group Inc. which is a leading fortune five hundred company that designs, markets, and is also a wholesaler of branded apparel, footwear, and accessories. This particular company offers a selection of woman's footwear which range from $30 to $200. They a total of 60 offices globally, which spreads from Hawaii to Maine totaling up to 1,500 of their own stores and 7,000 points of sale in many department stores.
The design inspration behind this leading company comes from Fred Allard. He's the creative designer that started at Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture design school in Paris. Now he works under Vince Camuto gathering his designs from couture, art, and architecture. He has helped Nine West become one of the leading fashion companies and maybe one of the reasons why their products find it's way to the shelves of many fashionistas all over the world.

Favorite Retailer!!

I would have to say that my favorite retailer is Nine West. I have a secret love affair with shoes and this store specifically caters to my needs; whether if it's to buy a pair of shoes for a formal event, or to go out with the girls the selection is avaliable for any occassion. I love the whole shopping experience from the door to the cash register. When I walk into the store I'm greeted with great customer service, and the associates are always there to help when making decisions if the need arises. When I'm shopping here the mood feels right because the atmosphere of the store is relaxing being that it has a boutique kind of feeling.
Who wouldn't want a pair of stylish shoes, handbag, accessories, etc.? Well I feel that this store has fashionable items at a reasonable price, and when it comes to quality this store knows what their consumer are looking for. I would have to say that every item that I have owned from this retailer has lasted for a long time which is why I wouldn't think twice to shop here. So being that this retailer has fashionable and durable items that are found at a reasonable price, why would it not be a favorite to add on your list of retailers?
